Benjamin J. Higginbotham
Benjamin started his career as a national news director working in high-end television and video production, and from 16 to 18 was the youngest director for two different national television stations. His passion lay with the actual equipment: the $500,000 switchers and $250,000 cameras, so he moved into studio design and integration. As the television industry started to move away from tape and onto hard drives, so did Benjamin. From 1998-2005 Benjamin worked for an audio-video integrator designing and deploying glass-to-glass digital production facilities. These facilities employed the latest in networking and digital video technology, helping to rid stations of cumbersome analog tape and distribution. In 2005 he decided to make a slight career shift and move from video networking to data networking for WhereToLive.com and is currently their Director of New Technology.  During this time the team formed a new media outlet called Technology Evangelist which rapidly grew in popularity, but took more money and resources than the company was able to afford. After Technology Evangelist site went on hiatus Benjamin took his gear and started Spacevidcast. I have been working on new media and next generation video for years now.  I personally grew Technology Evangelist’s new media section from 0 subscribers to over 3000 daily. I have grown Spacevidcast and created an entire market around new media in space. Starting in early 2008 Spacevidcast now has over 2,500 daily viewers and typically over 75,000 viewers for launch events. We are the only site on the planet that has live, High Definition coverage of space shuttle launches. We’re also the only site on the planet with live, High Definition weekly shows about all things space. This is what I do!
