I have a number of outstanding items for the first episode of Spacevidcast in 2009. As a quick aside you'll note that I have started spelling it Spacevidcast as opposed to SpaceVidcast which will match the logo a bit nicer. I was going to change the logo but it looked silly.
Outstanding Early January Spacevidcast items:
- Update the web site design
- Finish the new set design (requires two 42" plasma monitors and two 6' stands)
- Get the new show music (this is currently being worked on)
- Get the new show open. I won't start that until I get the new theme music
- Create the new show graphics
- Purchase 3 additional Blackmagic Intensity boards for the live show switching
- Fix CamTwist Studio 2 beta so the video does not tear on full-screen output
- Find a way to turn off the virtual driver in CamTwist to free up CPU
- Find a way to record the HD show while streaming the flash episode live
- Figure out how to drive the two 42" plasma monitors independently
- Figure out how to do component HD switching for the plasma monitors (scaler?)
- Figure out how to feed the Skype computer for guests in to the 42" plasmas as well as in to the CamTwist computer
I really want to get the new Spacevidcast site online as fast as possible. I believe we are going to start getting some good media attention in January of 2009 and want to make sure it is much easier for people to find the clips they are looking for. I had tried two external resources to cut up the comp and get it rolling but neither were able to do it, which means that I'll be taking that project on again. As such there may be an additional delay for show launch that was not intended, so we may be going live on January 16th at 2:00am UTC rather than January 9th as originally planned. It is really unknown at this time, I'll have a better feeling for it this weekend. We won't be launching until the new site, graphics, music and open are done. Everything else is fairly optional. I would like to push to get the first shows in 2009 done in HD from the start, but we'll see if we have the resources to make it go.
The biggest problem with running a show that makes no money is that, well, it makes no money. This means I can't hire the resources needed to take some of these items off my plate. It is my hope that with the improvements to the show as well as the marketing blitz I want to start we will grow the audience quite a bit allowing us to sell ads. I guess we could sell ads against the show right now, but I'm having a hard time coming up with potential sponsors. We'll see how it goes once the updated show launches.
Stay tuned! We have some amazing things in store for 2009!!! Here is a quick tease of what the updated web site will look like:
